About Dr. Kumar
Dr. Kumar is an Associate Professor at Ryerson University in the department of Aerospace Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, in 1998. He was a Research Scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organization, India in 1998; the National Aerospace Laboratory, Tokyo, Japan, under the sponsorship of Science and Technology Agency in 1998–2000; and the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, under the sponsorship of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in 2001–2003. Kumar worked as an Assistant Professor at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, for a brief period in 2001. During these years, he has been actively involved in the field of space systems engineering, spacecraft dynamics and control, and optimization. His research work has resulted in more than 60 research publications and the textbook Introductory Operations Research published by Springer-Verlag, Berlin, Germany, 2004. The suggested innovative methods of spacecraft attitude control, spacecraft orbital maneuvering, and spacecraft formation flying are some of the major achievements of his research work. He is a Member of AIAA.
